Emelyn Smith-Ferris

Emelyn Smith-Ferris has been teaching at Pitt since 2008 and working with the Freshman Engineering Writing Program since 2011. She hold a B.S. and M.S. in chemistry from Carnegie Mellon and an M.F.A. in creative writing from Pitt. She previously worked as an assistant editor for a medical journal and as a tutor in math and physics. Ferris-Smith enjoys teaching creative writing as well as professional writing and helping students realize they can, in fact, write.
